03A06 of Tampines Junior College is
SOOOOO SCREWED!

TODAY marks the commemoration of Racial Harmony Day. Racial Harmony Day is one of the 4 observant days that Singapore practice in order to remind the nation that racial harmony should not be taken for granted.

Today is also a special day for TPJCians. The usually bi-annual Sea Carnival is into its 9th year running. Principal Mrs Goh Hwee Choo was reported to be pleased with the splendid carnival the previous year and gave directions that it should once again be held the following year.

Held at the Kallang River, near the fateful Nicoll Highway, students donning the unmistakable green TPJC PE Shirts and eye catching Faculty TShirts row their way to and fro  the river on dragon boats as well as canoes.

The morning witnessed an unpleasant scene. Racial Harmony Day was not celebrated as planned. Students were not interested to view the supposedly interesting exhibits in the hall and foyer and most were seen trying to escape via the main gates to no avail. The IN GATE is guarded by the school attendants where as the OUT GATE, by teachers on duty. The infamous side gate is locked until students are officially dismissed. Witnesses at the scene reported that many students are seen taking pink slips of paper, to excuse themself from school.

It is not surprising to note that with the unenthusiastic spirit of TPJCians, the turn-out for sea carnival would not be huge. Many students whom we spoke to were planning not to go and some were even seen loitering around in shopping centres.

Our papers met up with some students from 03A06. Upon request, their real names shall not be revealed. According to one of the girls, their class only qualified for one of the events which is held at about 5. As such, they have taken the bold step of deciding to come late. The rest of the class who are not involved are obviously potraying the typical TPJC attitude of practically "ponning" or in other words skipping.

It has been reported that the civics tutor has called up some students and once again they have dissapointed him by displaying lousy attitude.

03A06 is famous for producing students with high intellectual capabilities. However, our papers have been told that the class fared relatively badly for the recent common test. On the other hand, if the entire school population is taken into hand, 03A06 can be considered to have done quite well.

Check out tomorrow's paper for the 2nd installment of this feature article.
