So the new committee was anounced by mrs neo today.
It has been a year.
Tampines Junior College Concert Band
All along, i never wanted to pursue band as a cca. that was what i felt in secondary school. somehow, band is something not for me. im not musically inclined and even my present technicality and musicality sucks. haha.
What my batch mates esp. the exco experienced were either not sweet or tasteless. throughout the 12 months or so, what we felt were lousy and pathetic feelings and what we achieved were terrible and unimaginable results(except perhaps recruitment and crossing borders and tune-in 2)
But i am still happy, that despite the failures and setbacks, my committee can overcome all circumstances to prove others and most importantly ourselves, that we can do it. this is of course with the never ending support of our band mates. certainly, we had the minority who were unsatisfied with the way we handled things. this, i have no comments
perhaps whats history ought to be forgotten. but im thankful that i have presidents who are so caring and thoughtful. we do not want what happened to us to repeat to this batch. for me know that this batch determines the continuation of TPJC Band as a Band of quality and not only quantity. If we do not train them enough, the batch will suffer and thus, the overall standard will fall. We experienced it all. Really "banged our heads" all around, like someone would say. and it is indeed painful. especially when the person you trust most goes against you.
emotionally, physically and mentally taxing. everything. heavy burden. lose friends. lack of personal time. overwhelming responsibilities. school work. r/s with band members. everything. proud to say that we have successfully gone through it all. as ONE. on the surface, my batch's exco might seem to be lousy and inferior to the previous one.sometiems iwonder what is the basis of comparison. but despite all our personal differences and to take note that the original 6 heads(excl me) were from single sex sec schools. as i recall, we used to have lots of verbal fights and arguments and damn hot heated debates over the meeting table. will spend hours and results in NO FINAL CONCLUSION. and until we got super pissed that we cancelled future meetings unless we are sure of our own departments scope.
remember the politics game. and how badly we wanted to win. how stupid we were to agree to the terms and conditions knowing that we will lose in the end. how we complained to mrs neo that very night at gelare parkway parade. and how we planned for tuning in (2) and was super satisfied with the encouraging turn out of more than 100 secondary 4 band members.
the learn-how-to-conduct-sectionals at ACS I session. LOL. one day before hari raya. yeah. and they went to watch movie after that.
band fest. the act cute photograph. haha.. the orange and green shirt. the take the train at 645 and sit all the way until BOON LAY. yeah. 1st time in esplanade. the getting to know other jc band members. friendly OR snobbish.
band camp. perhaps its one of our failures. well. nobody gives a shiet in our jc. most of the time lah. well. maybe due to our small size. but the games and food was great lah. cant deny that
audition. ahuh. someone wasnt very pleased
orientation 1. yeah. made alot of noise. pissed the other ccas. the recruitment was kinda OK
audition. uhuh. mucchh better. after the march hols incident
orientation 2. yeah.. pulled ppl in like crazy. thanks to those ppl who managed to get their fellow friends in too
crossing borders. we were nearly hopeless 1 month before crossing borders but we managed to get out of the huge confusing web of rubbish that we faced. the experience was great. we were above expectation of a relatively large number of ppl, who thought that we wouldnt be able to pull through.
here is a public tribute
lynette : shes e one who has gone through the most i guess. as she stayed on top longer than anyone else did. seen her change from a soft to a hard-soft person. someone who had almost no idea how to run a band to someone who fully understood the politics that can occur. yeah. the one who felt the most lonely at certain junctures. as if the whole world has turned against her. with the ever popular quote "i dont care" but actually she does very much. its been great. she knows me too well. knows that i will flare up everytime im given last min work and yeah. sorry for that. sometimes, i think i shldnt have rejected some of the work i had rejected. oh well. the most fond memory was of coz the planning of crossing borders. wanted to make it near-perfect. well. it turned out perfect although we didnt adhere strictly to what we planned. like wth, mrs neo's bus went wrong entrance! and cannot unlock doors until 1230! and the unloading of lorry load at wrong unloading point! and as such. haha. remember all the flower talk and yeah.. the pizza hut meal cum discussion with mrs neo yeah.. clarice.. sorry. lol. and all the times she wld msg me with "meeting at blah blah blah tmr" ... "band prac at blah blah blah" then i will sometimes give violent replies. oppps. thats enuff muz write for other ppl oso. shall write individual letters. haha
clarice : the ex admin. the one who dunno what to do how to do when she stepped up. im sure u felt weird, being a non ex band member leading a band. something which u aint very familiar with. but. guess you have been great. with me not having to fill up the instructors time in time out sheet. no idea how its filled anyway. and yeah. e constant passing of pieces of paper for u to read in e middle of band practice and such. and the who have to say what for announcements. the when u feel the same feeling as i feel part when erm. its super hard to tell people that we dont change our attitude when we experience the reshuffling in our committee.. your typical handwriting on foolscap papers. the one with the black G tec pen. or navy blue. and sometimes weird curvy patterns below the heading and such. the handling of crossing borders ticket and stuff.and band fest. and how some people got super angry over the sold out issue. yeah
the mugging sessions at BK dte. how to do math??? arghh. haha. the buying of dr lee present together with lyn and ko at suntec. and yeah. u bought mrs neo the eye thing.
and how i had to rush to ikea on a thursday afternoon to get the teachers day present. and how you coloured the thing using the colour pencil thats super cool. can peel one.
christopher : obviously, somehow, you might feel left out at times. but you are someone i respect. unlike me, your talk is got value one. my talk is sometimes got value, and most of time times, none at all. remember how you were the dilligent silent worker who gotta handle so much paperwork singlehandedly after the changes made to the exco. all the band fund. and yah told peiru she needs to give me 10 dollars. lol. and all the mcs, and the attendance! argh. super stress.. attendance.. and the printing out of percentage of present absent and stuff. and collection of band fund! and money. and yah. trying to get you to make announcement. then you will turn all red. blush. lol. and your wonderful saxy tenor tone. lol. everytime practicing. and your lame jokes. lol. and how-gang. and yeah. your lame jokes will be particularly memorable! a great reason to remember. most importantly, i think you are the most patient person in the exco lah. do not complain but do everything sincerely... i think. lol. not that i doubt you or not know you well enough.. but just in case you beg to differ...
edwin and limin : it certainly has not been easy i guess. but we still made it. remember how upset you guys were with our standard. perhaps you guys are still dissapointed. but yah. juz rem to guide the juniors.
huihoon : wonderful
towboon : wonderful
lol. the above 4 persons. shall write next time, maybe personal note. too tired now. lol
