ok. i cannot connect into msn. oh well. maybe i should juz post a long entry
firstly,
its e cny season, and no offence to my chinese friends and acquaintances(as well as the govt), i feel spore is too chinese-fied. My job experience of calling up 300plus malay respondents so far has some what confirmed the unequal treatment towards the minority community with regard to career opportunity. Its like, majority of my cases right... the people are working as either cleaner or security officers. lol. theres lots like.. "oh. i went for the admin job interview but then the chinese people over there say i cant speak chinese/they only want chinese so they nvr call me back". lol. its like totally unfair lah. its not an isolated case but then repeated again and again. so what im gonna do is to enrol myself in a chinese course through a recognised agency. lol. yeah. on one hand, i dont feel that it is right that we should adapt to their needs because of the fact that english is the universal language. however, i mean, if we voice this out, it would not be taken objectively. thus might as well adapt to their needs. coz yeah. the older generation who lack the knowledge of english are more resistant to changes... but we can always talk to them in malay what... right.
and yeah. i feel like the straits times/sunday times is a chinese newspaper translated to english language. this can be confirmed by the fact that there are numerous articles regarding the upcoming chinese new year. no doubt its interesting, but then are there exclusive coverage for the other festivals. its funny that yeah, there are only snippets for say hari raya aidiladha or deepavali. i think more should be focused on the festivals of the minority coz yeah, misconception wrt festivals are still rampant. like my colleague just commented yesterday, "your malay new year also like that right".. referring to hari raya. i mean, yeah, shldnt be too sensitive but its not even a new year.
i feel i am identity-less. sometimes, when i talk to ppl and i tell ppl that i consider myself as malay/javanese. then they give me some kinda weird look. or this kinda feeling that the malay community is compounded by numerous social issues yet to be solved. haha. yea
