guess what. kelvin called at abt 3plus yesterday(sat) and asked whether i was interested to go genting. haha. i told him that i was interested lah; as i had no other plans for this extra long cny weekend. So he made some arrangements and ta-da i gotta be at parkway at abt 0545 later to board the bus. Actually im saving up to go thailand next mth with the rest of the docu people but then nvm, i need the break anyway. And the thing is that he is helping pay the hotel room so ive got to cover the cost of my transportation and dinner(since i intend to be kiasu by eating alot for breakfast).
I did duty yesterday and managed to clear a large proportion of my emails albeit theres still lots of hsekeeping to do. Anyway, mdm molly has decided not to come so my section is oic-less. And yes, ive been thinking of the past as usual. but i appreciate the present
im lazy to blog

I think i mentioned smtg abt the navy dxo who kept on pestering us. Guess what.. She has not put her email correspondence to a stop yet.
As usual, Im going to say that im getting real busy in camp. Working independently yet im a team member who is required to contribute blah blah. We had another cohesion activity today; cycling at east coast. It is one of the better outings we had so far lah. Was quite fun. Cycled together with the rest of the S1 Branchers.
Actually im quite sad that chief is leaving. :(

Oh yes before i forget, I wanted to blog abt my weird conversation with this DXO from navy yesterday.
Early in the morning, when i was doing hsekeeping of my dockets, hp told me that she received an email which she forwarded to me - ppl chasing for dockets. I checked and found out that this DXO went round the SAF looking for dockets of 2 Army personnel posted to her unit. To cut the story short, i needed to know the ORD date of the personnel to help me trace back the docket. This is because, the docket might have been handed over from the active side OR the ns side. So i replied asking her to find out the change of TOS date. And so, 5 minutes after sending the mail, she called me - looking for REE-DAH. And to summarise once more, she did not know what is TOS. And what is 252A/B etc. I had to guide her step-by-step. She was quite blur and all. My guess is that she is new and i sortof pity her coz i think everyone in her office might have been bullying her instead of guiding her. But come one.. shes a DXO!
And oh. im home. i ran at 7 this morning! ran tobedok reservoir. ran around bedok reservoir and came home. aww. the gravel made me sink. haha

Yes I have not been going online for quite a few days already. Reason being that i have been staying in camp until quite late recently. Firstly is because of my intention of getting fit by alternating between gym sessions and runs. Like today i ran 4.5km! Yeay. Hopefully can increase to 10km by Mid Feb. Secondly is because i want to avoid the peak hr crowd everytime i leave the office on the dot. Even if i leave office "on time", i Can only reach home at ard 7pm. So i might as well stay until abt 8pm and be able to reach home by 9. Thirdly is because i will have time to follow-up on outstanding matters which requires monitoring but i cannot afford the time because i am frankly very very busy nowadays. An added bonus is that i can get free dinner plus the fact that Ayer Rajah Camp food is quite good, seriously.
Heard some confirmation abt cuts. Didnt expect the drastic changes to come so soon
bye

i'm liking my office more and more especially my little corner. It is more cosy. I don't know. Some sort of affection and feeling of attachment to it. Yes.
I ran again today. Covered like 3.5km because the sky was overcast, it even drizzled.
Oh im too lazy to blog.
Been busy. Very busy

I have all along been passionate in every work or task that i commit myself to. I love the satisfaction that is derived from good work performance and the learning experience that comes along together. More importantly, i find the ability to overcome stress the most meaningful lesson that can ever be learnt.
Lots of changes have been taking place these few days. First of all, WE HAVE MIGRATED since 12/01/2006! We have brand new HP computers with flat screen monitors and attached speakers. And yeap. winXP. Actually there's nothing fascinating. Just that probably we don't expect the SAF to be operating on winXP. Lol.
Actually we changed the floor layout of our section 1 day before migration. So we actually pushed all the cupboards and filing cabinet together to create a partition. My workstation faces HuiPheng. I have decided that i shall use the computer that was supposed to be shared between jon and me where as jon shall use pat's comp in the absence of the NS OIC.
And the RUDE partition contractor came and we chose some royal blue colour as our partition.
Don't know how long before the partition finally arrives.
Oh well. Been hearing news of restructuring. Somehow CPC recently was alerted on our staffing level. We are so screwed. They are gonna cut manpower to everybody's dismay. To start it off, they are cutting it singapore wide partly due to the dragon babies and probably to save costs as well.
So its a timely period for Pat to go off; the incumbent cannot be released as of now. So it is mainly me and hp running the show and seriously im getting very stressed with the tremendous amount of workload. But its ok. :) i will enjoy it.
And about Pat going off. We had a little makan function for him. It was his birthday today too. He seemed very cheerful and happy. Long time since he last behaved like he did today. Clearly his expressions indicated that he has been waiting so long for this moment - the moment where he can leave e Bn, after 3 years.
Despite his shortcomings, he tried his best to perform well by putting in his utmost effort in everything that he do. I kind of didn't bother to reply his farewell email coz i see no point in doing so. I have to admit that although im not favourable of his working style, he is ultimately my boss and he has taught lots as the best of his ability.
I don't know why my post sounds so somber and its all about NS. Actually i went for dinner with Dys1 and Kelvin after wrk today (and i ran. 3km and it didnt feel like anything coz we were talking despite our shortness of breath etc). We went holland v to have erm BK. And yes, that was my FIRST time having dinner in holland V. Afterwhich i went to Tiong Bahru Plaza coz Kelvin needed to settle some business(literally) stuff. And then had a chat abt Work. Interesting chat i must say. We sound determined to bring the branch to a higher level. Well. It is just very refreshing to talk to someone who likes to observe the way things work.
Im tired. :)

Alright. Something interesting happened to me today. I was bullied by a bunch of taxi drivers who were in their taxi honking away at the car i was in. Andrew needed to get some stuff from the supermarket so after picking me up outside his place, he drove to eastpoint. He alighted at the side entrance of the mall, which was also designated as a pick-up point and taxi stand. And so, he took some time to get some stuff which i presumed are groceries. All along i sat in the car, to act as a look-out for any suspicious looking characters who have the power of towing or giving a fine. And so, somehow or another the taxi drivers were not happy so they started honking one by one. And then there was this taxi who drove up next to the car i was in and then he wind down his window but i just looked away. Somehow, i think he couldn't be bothered because i was not paying any attention to him so he looked away. And then there was this super idiotic driver who came out of his cab, slammed the door and then came to the car i was in and started knocking the window, even tried attempting to open the door. Afterwhich he started making lots of noise and end off with FUCK BASTARD!. Then the other taxi drivers joined in unison by honking at what seemingly happens to be the helpless me in a big sedan licensed SGA. And then the security guard came, i explain to him andrew was at the supermarket to get some stuff for a short while. Then he tried explaining to the cab driver but the cab drivers were acting like hooligans honking away So i decided to call andrew and he told me to go one road. So i mustered all my courage to drive another person's expensive car and so i off i went. And before i went off the taxi drivers were still honking so i deliberately honk back. And so i went one round and came back and picked andrew up.
And then we went to pick grace and derek up. and we had dinner and i saw alot of people. yeah alot. esp jc friends. so i ended up with grace derek andrew hui si hew wing and qb. they wanted to bar but then they cldnt b bothered so we went back tamp to play pool. LOL!.

Sometimes i don't believe that im fully exposed to the politics of the real world. Serving our liability we all may seem to be, but the apparent mind games everyone is involved in, is simply disgusting. We have cliques protecting each other's asses, covering each other's butts or even worse, talking bad behind each other's back. Wake up Ridza! You're in the REAL world!
I think big shots are over rated and over regarded. In every organisation, the service providers are always thought lowly of - with nothing much but thoughts of superiority and power by those who are more supreme. Nobody seems to notice the sheer work and effort put in by the a/m service providers, who slog their time away to obtain results in which their bosses will take credit by embossing their initials on top of their name and BIG FAT appointment at the end of every painstakingly-produced document.
And we have those who compare their workload. Come on. Be realistic. We are all at the frontline. There is no such thing as whining over the unequal distribution of work. And i simply HATE IT when i've been accused of being too free. Although it might just be a casual remark, i take it seriously. Because i know my working style and i will not just let anybody accuse me. I've always been told by my colleague that i'm the noisiest(and prolly nosiest too) NSF she has ever met ever since she joined the SAF abt a decade ago. But at the same time, she's rather amazed at the way i can complete my work despite the nonsense i constantly spout out at work. I don't know. Maybe it's about passion. Passion in the things you do.
I still cannot get over the fact that just because i pop by quite frequently to the orderly room, some of them have the misconception that i have no work to do. Which is obviously not true considering that NS Section is an S1 Branch in S1 Branch. But i love what i do. so heck it. Say what they want to say. I do what i want to do. :)
And btw, im finally promoted. LIKE FINALLY. It is quite funny actually, cause the personnel who puts people up for promotion is our CseClk(based on certain guidelines of course). For once, being promoted doesn't equal to additional workload, because my workload is already heavy to begin with.

The feeling is sortof nostalgic when you see teenagers going to school(especially today where lots of jc-students-to-be travelled in great flocks to the place where they are going to have fun for the next 3 mths). My mind had a rewind of the past for a moment, during those good old times when friends were made everyday, mischevious acts carried out in every single way and simple thoughts of the future. Now, 3 to 4 years on, i wonder what i have achieved.
I remember Cikgu Faten once saying that she would want all her students to write a letter. The content of the letter was about what we would be doing in a few years time. She told us that she has done it before with one of the MLEP batch, and has actually mailed the letters 3 years after their graduation.
Sometimes, teachers seem to be our pillar of strength, hope and motivation. At other time, teachers just screw our life up. But the following fact remains - students are protected by a particular invisible shell.
Take life as it is.
