With CO back in office it seems that we are having more and more battalion activities. Just this afternoon there was this safety seminar(yawn) following which was some kind of healthy lifestyle run which im supposed to run 8km but cld only manage 4pluskm. Plus some SSG from EMC came up to kenny/jack and me to ask us to join his AHM competitive team. then Kenny and jack said they r gonna ORD. So that leaves me and im screwed coz i think attempting to run 21km is already a challenge. but running in the competition team? WOW. Really difficult. REALLY DIFFICULT.

The only interesting thing today is while i was busy preparing backgrd info for 6 deferment cases, i had to do a charge report(again). Oh thats quite boring isnt it

Im so tired i feel like sleeping

Its June. Time flies. I mean time is flying. Ppl like DyS4, Aidil, Jonathan, DyS1, Bill, Wei Boon just collected their pink ICs. I start to feel Old. And envious. And sad. That im still stuck and left behind. But anyway, it means my turn is coming. its already June!
As i was telling huiping
jul - busy with ICT
aug - post july ict pre sep ict
sep - busy with ICT
oct - Hari Raya
nov - clear leave
dec - pre jan ict
jan - busy with ict

So the haircut turns out to be just fine. Attempted to make small talk with the hairstylist, Doris. Quite an okay trim. Just that my brother said its quite wasted for a haircut at a saloon. Like i have any choice. My hair was quite short to begin with, just that its was very very out of shape. Like a hairy mushroom sprouting hair in all directions. I think it sounds so wrong.

Anyway, Had CO parade this morning. I woke up at 0500. Missed the 0540 train so took the 0550 one and guess what, i reached camp at 0635. Wow! Mong played me out by taking MC so i wore number 3. Camouflaged myself between the rest of the PES E number 3 wearers. The parade was kind of short and sweet. Afterwhich CO gathered everyone for a small "informal talk". He told us a fair bit of good news. Like GSMB won the Minister for Defence Award (Commendation) again and that the unit managed to top the Best Logistic Unit CompetitioN(BLUC), hence becoming the best log unit. Duh. If the previous time he mentioned that GSMB is the biggest battalion in the Army, today he said that with a strength of 800 plus GSMB is one of the biggest units in the SAF, if not, the Army. And when he said that, i was imagining ppl like Kenny, Emily, Mong, Jeff buried in heaps of paperwork.

Oh my aircon broke down today. And for the first time since half a year, our CO actually walked into our room and asked why we didnt switch on the lights. Then i said its too glaring. then he asked if im sure. Then i said yes. Then he noticed that the aircon was down. Then he asked if its the same compressor as his PA's. Mannn. I shld have said that its been happening ever since i came to the unit.

The aircon is totally UNRELIABLE. It can be freezing cold one minute, and sweltering hot with heat trapped in the so called oven called NSMen Section. Where we get hotter due to the numerous cases(not problems) that surface every single day.

Im planning to go on a 1 mth trip to Europe after i ORD. Anyone game? You can help ridza by financial means too.

thinking back, i did something realllyy silly today.
I went to a saloon which i used to go to a few years back today. Im rather sick and tired of any-how-cut hair cut-ted by the pay-the-machine-ten-dollars-in-exchange-for-a-card-which-u-manually-hand-over-to-the
-hairstylist-which-is-so-lame-coz-i-thought-we-wld-have-to-use-it-like-phonecard/ezlink
aunties and ahbengs(no offence coz its true.. most of the times), coz it only looks decent and neat for about 1 week afterthat it will end up unkempt like the condition of my hair now. SO back to my story. i went into the quite-empty shop. marched straight up the counter. actually the counter was right in front of the door. I said.
"Hi. I wld like to make an appointment"
the guy said. "when? and what time?"
"monday evening, 7pm"
then he said. "with whom? which stylist?"
then i replied. "hmm ahh. Anyone???"
then he asked "just a cut?"
then i said "yah"
and i left my contact number behind and walk off. MUAHAHA. so lame right?
at least i have forced myself to cut my hair there, hope it doesnt turn out to be a
disaster too!

actually im super screwed. coz i dunno how to tell the stylist what kind of hair style i want! and pointing at pics wldnt help coz almost all the photos in those kind of catalogues are of medium-short range of hair! Which i cant afford to keep in order to keep myself clean and away from the power of the mighty ones(in army, everyone else seems to be higher ranking but not as mighty as me. HAHAHAHA. action~)

this week been fast. i cleared 01x day off on friday. when it was the eat with your family day supposedly in conjunction with MCYS family week celebrations(i did the bn routine order so i know all htis crap). I wonder.. is it meant to clash witht he starting of the GSS?

Talking abt GSS. Im saving up ALLL my money for the next GSS. Lol. I think its better to have more reserves in the bank account and spend on stuff that you are going to chuck away once the novelty is gone.

Maybe i shld go for another holiday.
Anyway, since wow. aisyah reads my blog(and i read yours too).
The under-mentioned are some more tips.

Bkk is notorious for its traffic jams. But despite all the vehicular congestion, you will be kind of shocked to find out that accidents rarely occur. The air isnt as fresh as those air you breathe when you take a stroll down Tampines' SunPlaza Park. The water isnt as clean as those you get from the tap in your HDB toilet(sound so unglam but who cares).

And oh. you should go to Boots. Its actually a watson's kind of thing. but then its got more in-house stuff. Like creams and all. Can get some apricot and peach cream for my mom? Get several. Lol. Coz my mom likes it so much. i only bought one big tube for her 2 mths back and now its like totally gone! Will tell you the exact name soon.

Then suggest that you plan your expenditure. spread your daily budget out. SO that you will avoid frequent trips to the money changers and atm. And oh. they've got tons of UOB in Bkk. Yes. And once you change to baht, you will feel like a rich guy(girl in your case).

The food in Bkk is cheap. But the px of clothes and stuff has risen tremendously due to the influx of tourists from economically more developed countries(like the republic of singapore). And oh. You might hear of Pratunam area. You might want to give it a miss coz its not yr kind of thing.

Just rememebr to go to Chatuchak. IF you are staying over the weekend(or several weekends), remember to go there on each day of the weekend.

And oh, Bkk is one hour slower than Singapore. But then when its abt 6pm there, its already quite dark. And when its 6am there, its already quite bright.

And oh yeah. if you want to change your money in sg. the money changers who give the best rates are in chinatown and larkeyyy plasar..

end of part 2

for aisyah. i cant seem to send msg thru friendster.

start---------------------------------------

tips? how much do you want? 10 cents? 20 cents? 10 bahts?

well. Bkk's a fantastic place for shopping. You will be able to find more than what you want. and of course, spend more than what you can possibly afford.

for high street/high end
go to siam paragon, siam discovery, siam centre, emporium. gaysorn. erawan

normal spore kind of shopping
world trade centre

to stock up on groceries
Big C

for good bargains
go to chatuchak(during weekends only though). but its super crowded. super stuffy. but its the place place for u to find the best deals.
u can try going to suan lam night market. but its a lil bit more expensive.
but generally as long as they dont display their px, they will mark it up. esp knowing that you are not local. so what u shld do is be daring enough to slash e px by at least 50%

never ever try to be adventurous by taking a tuk-tuk. coz the driver will most likely bring u to some gem/jewelry/handicraft store where aggressive sales staff welcome you with wide open mouths, ready to swallow yr money. e best way to travel, despite the jams are taxis coz its damn cheap. u can take e skytrain but then its kinda expensive relative to taxis. but sometimes its faster coz theres no jams. oh when u take cab. make sure that you make them go by the meter. otw they will quote some rubbish px.

food wise. hmm. it shld be quite ok lah. u will be able to find all kinds of delicacies.

anw. its hotter than spore over there. so drink more bottled plain water. dont drink from the tap.

which hotel are u staying in. not all the hotels are english friendly.shld u face any difficulty expressing yourself to the frontdesk staff, try speaking in the thai accent. they will most surely understand.

basically BKK is a nice place to shop shop shop. be careful of yr belongings. advice that u put all yr valuable stuff in the safe in the hotel room. take care of yr money, ipod Nano, make up bag, everything.

and what carrier are you taking. i took CX there last yr. this year i took air asia to bkk and jetstar back to sg.

Seriously, in my desperation to save money, i realise that i have not been doing anything much. Mdm lee actually forced me to clear my off today but then i refused because i did not make plans! Although she threatened to forfeit the off, i know she wouldnt. I got a few days of accumulated off from last year. S1 is going to make lots of noise when he finds out, IF he ever find out.

I shouldnt talk about work now.

Plans for these few months. To save money. And need to re-start my fitness programme. Eversince i took IPPT in march, i have not been exercising at all. The previous time i ran was last wed. the usual 4 x 1.5km route. what to do. wait until dys1 comes back from his leave in june then can have running friend.

I was so embarrassed this morning. I was standing at the back of the bus. I had almost nothing to hold on but the overhead bar because the bus was crowded. Then someone got up from his seat. So i had to give way to him. After i give way, i lost of footing and had nothing to grab too because the overhead bar was obviously too high. And i squashed into one little secondary school girl who held on tightly to the vertical pole(which was right in front of me), just that i cldnt hold on to it because it was full of hands! I was so embarrassed i ended laughing to myself.

And huipheng mentioned abt yashin saving some kitten from the drain at the cookhouse. And we ended up sending nonsense emails. Lol.

Today was greg's last working day so we took some spastic pics. waiting for it to be uploaded!

I thought i mentioned that i shall not talk abt army life in my 1st few paragraphs..
oh well. what else can i talk abt

Anyway! 11months in GSMB!! :pp

I cant remember the last time i blogged, and what that entry was about. But anyway, the weekend was spent doing the things im good at. Whatever it is you got to guess it yourself.

Today was quite an interesting day. Spent the entire morning preparing registered mail to send out on Thursday. After lunch was spent rushing around between S1, CO and HQ MES trying to expedite the deferment appeal of one guy.

What was interesting today was that once again, hui phing and i decided to revamp our layout. Had a hard time trying to reposition the partitions coz it somehow rooted itself to the tiles on the floor. Im occupying the same little corner next to the window, just that im facing the other way round. So it is a 180 degrees turn(almost wrote 360 degrees, but i wld be back to the same position wouldnt i?).

Anyway, i went to HQ MES with Hui Phing. Was quite fun. Considered it an outing although we are just a few blocks apart. Hui Phing talked to a lot of ppl. Its like she walked everywhere along the corridors and everyone cld recognise her. Went to the orderly room, nw known as the CAC to hand over some documents. Was quite funny coz the sweet au*n*ies in the room were all chit chatting with huiphing. And they were quite surprised coz they finally discovered in malay. haha. then i called emily. then she brought us to her room. Well. Big office but only 2 other ppl ard. Quite nice to be there. Wondering how NSF life is like over there too.

Oh, i went on a house visit trip yesterday with ms lee. well. the bus driver is NEW and was very very blur. He is actually a man who appeared to be in his 50s. oh well lazy to blog. coz i got nothing better to blog abt

I watched MI3. It was funny. Ha Ha Ha. Seriously. Gave me a feeling as if i was watching a Dan Brown picture(if he ever had one). Theres the twist to the plot and storyline. And the usual good guy but then the good guy is actually the bad guy situation. To sum it up, the story was complicated, but it was simple enough to digest and understand. Unlike those shows that you dont understand wth is going on.

Nothing much changed. Nothing new happened.

Do you spend some time thinking of those friends whom you-used-to-spend-your-schooling-days-with-but-have-since-kept-a-distance
wondering what they r doing now.

sleeping? eating? or blogging nonsense. just like me.

I witnessed something interesting today. My manpower branch is divided into several rooms based on our sections. This morning, at about 10, kelvin and mong rushed over to my room and told me to go over to Personnel Affairs Office to go and witness their leaking ceiling. And so i went. And water was seeping through the styrofoam of the false ceiling board. Kenny came and did something to the board so the water could be drained away. Soon after, the one of the board gave way and dropped due to the intense weight of the water. And then discovered that there was this leaking pipe. S1 all were there. The whole floor was wet. So was kelvin's partition. And so all the infra ppl came up. And S4 too. And so.. the root of the problem is that some logistics branch guy turned on the fire hydrant water supply when everybody was aware that the pipes are faulty. Remember at least 2 other incidents where the ceiling leaked.
OH WELL. i think the am doesnt sounds that interesting afterall.

In line with my desperate efforts to save up, I had a stay-at-home weekend. Although many would have preferred to take advantage of the long weekend to go on a short trip overseas, or to catch up with their mugging, or to meet up with old friends, or to spend the bonus that was banked in by the ever-so-kind-and-noble goverment, i HAD to stay at home. Not that i didnt had any cash to spare, but not spending any is a better option.

Went back to work today. As usual inundated with endless and countless paperwork. Heaps and tons and things to follow-up, monitor and act on. HP told me to stop and take a rest but i just had to go on. She told me that i shldnt be doing so many things at one time; that i should focus on one thing and complete it. But i just couldnt. My Mdm looked at the stressed-Ridza and told me.. "dont blame me ah.. i nvr give u any work ah". then i told her.. "mdm, i nvr give u any of my work also" It was quite funny lah. But i rather do the stuff myself. =)

Abt 1 week to Pay Day! Might only be a few hundred. But its still money. I still cant get over the fact sometimes; that we might do more in quantity and quality but we are just paid like super bloody low.

Alright. Looking forward to some Branch Outings. Timothy is planning for the branch to catch MI3 next Mon. And i suggested that we watch Da Vinci on 18. Whatever it is, Prashant suggested having an NSF meeting on Thursday to discuss more of such outings. ha.. :)
