Didnt expect yesterday to be so fun. Feeling so old now coz its like damn long since i last enjoyed myself. Went for Tpjc Band's concert at VCH. Met up w Xin Jia. There weren't many of my batchmates around. But nevertheless there were the juniors and seniors.
E concert was ok. Average. Somehow, the heydays of Tpjc Band is over. Or perhaps it seems that the band will only buck up when its the SYF period. They performed 5 pieces. Including Movement for Rosa, Merry Widow and Japanese Tune. It was alright. But its not what u wld expect from a "LTT band". There was not enough power throughout. E dynamic contrast was not obvious enough. Shall not go on(blah blah intonation, balance......)
Met up with some seniors and we all talked to him. They were like so happy for him to leave. Somehow they were saying lah, everything has changed. E ppl, teachers, members, principal etc. So its not point staying.
Remember that he wanted to leave in 2004. E committee tried extremely hard to make him stay. Which he did.And this decision was made known to us on the night after the concert. Somehow, we must have had convinced him that e band needed him.
Anw, I went to raffles city mid-way during the 2nd half w XJ. Coz there were no more pieces by the band(coz its a combined musical synergy w guitar and some tamp east cc jap drum grp. So much for connecting w e community. Understand tt even though its a very noble motive(of wanted to connect w e community), the whole thing is just "degrading"(Mrs Mei-Chew said theres no such word as degrading) the already-neighbourhoodised-jc.
And Clare and Frae came later on. We walked to some coffeeshop near raffles place(at circular road) coz clare's BF just open a new shop there. And just sat down to drink Teh-Peng. And talk and talk and talk nonsense, until it was abt 0045 and we decided to go home. And so, hailed a cab...
