It's the time of the year again. The clock is ticking, and we are getting nearer and nearer to a brand new year. Sort of a brand new beginning for some of us. Sounds cliched? Perhaps thats what everyone says every year. In retrospect, Year 2006 has been a great year. Now i sound GP-ish hor? No no. Now i sound Chinese bah! Ok. Back to topic. As i usually do, I will sum up the year by listing out the most memorable moment(s) of each month(which can be inaccurate at times because its done on the spot lah dey).
January 2006
I can only remember that 13th Jan was Patrick's last day and I went out with HP and Chief Clerk to Ghim Moh to buy food and all.
And then we JANUS Migration? And then we changed our seating position and all? And then, yeah basically it was all about work.
If CNY was in January(was it? perhaps end Jan), I did duty on the day of the Unit Anniversary. Lol. Yes. Correct?
And then went over to Emily's House for CNY. When Brian and Timothy were fresh and new.
And during CNY, I went to Genting for 3-4 days with Kelvin on a last minute basis. He suddenly asked me online at 2300 "Ridza, Ive nvr been to genting before. You want to go tmr? But must meet at 0530." LOL. It was a fun trip.
And Yeah. The craze of MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA. Watched it with Hakwei on a Sunday i think.
(Wow, the memories are flooding back and I'm supposed to summarise everything!)
February 2006
Spent my 20th Birthday in Thailand(Bkk) with Emily, Kelvin and Kenny(fellow S1 Branchers). It was a fun trip, especially since we got the free upgrade to the family suite. The room was heavenly. And i spent a total of only(yeah right "only") 500 bucks for the entire holiday(half for air tix and hotel, the other half for shopping). Oh. And i never had a holiday ever since then. And oh I actually went all the way done to Apple Centre to get my Ipod replaced as its warranty was ending(based on the advice given by my friends).
Hew Wing, Ade and Andrew gave me a very nice Bday Present(which had smtg to do with my 19th Bday present from them). Ha. Can't wait to meet them again on New Years Day. Ok the last statement has nothing to do with Feb 06

Celebrated Pwee's Bday at Ekta's Place. Bought her some cake Doranne chose from Secret Recipe at Upper East Coast.
Drove to Orchard to catch Date Movie. It was hilarious. Not only the movie, but the company. Esp when fiona asked for the packet of chips and pwee threw and it landed right on fiona's face. Lol. And then fiona threw back and then it landed on pwee.
And then Doranne was like the Driving Instructor in the car. And farah, pwee and timothy were behind. Ha.

Cant really remember much.
We had a new OIC. I had a hard time explaining everything to her cause she used to do Active stuff so yeah. Dont wish to talk about it though coz it wasnt very pleasant.
Once again we shifted our seating position in office.
I think we had some branch movie outings. Ice Age 2 at Cathay. Took Greg's car then he was charged twice for reversing after passing through an ERP gantry. Also watched Mission Impossible(or was it in May?)
May 2006
Started doing what-i-usually-do-on-weekends
Did house visits at night with the then OIC. Was quite a busy month. Think Huiping went HK. And then yeah. Was anticipating the opening of Da Vinci Code so watched with Timothy(not the decotta one, but the one in taiwan now) Prashant and Greg at Marina Square. Lol. But i didnt really like it. Still prefer the book.
And then also met up with QB, Ade and Hew Wing(ALSO at Marina Square) for dinner at the foodcourt during one of the weekdays.
June 2006
Had MDA dinner at Parkway Parade. Sat with Ramzi and the rest of AYMC. Then the branch went to Chinatown for a session at KBox. And i ended up taking a cab home after that and had to pay like 20 bucks? Ha. But it was fun. Those few months were the moments when the branch was really united.
Also had branch outing earlier in the month, went cycling and then had BBQ at Prashant's place. There were really alottt of food left after the event.
At around the same time, a very rough conflict arose at the workplace between my closest colleagues in office(literally for one of them). and then she left.
July 2006
One LK ICT. Cant remember much abt it coz it was only 4 days.
Went for TPJC band concert at the end of the mth. And then went out for some coffee shop food near parliament house there with the section batchmates plus clarice. Ha. And i still owe her 6 bucks for the cab(but i think she has kindly waived it off)
Also met up with Andrew and Hew Wing for dinner at Pizza Hut. Lol. I still remember hor.
And i even went to NSSC for some CDMB briefing. And then the person I/c was like.. "So you are the Ridza i've been emailing" HAHAHA.
And oh. I bought new shoes and new belts. Really like them!
August 2006
National Day month.
Had dinner at Royal Plaza At Scotts (Cafe Vienna) in view of Timothy's 1 year tour to Taiwan and Kenny's ORD. Had a good meal. Hopefully we can organise one more once the hotel reopens(perhaps for Shaun's ORD in ? 2 months time).
And Oh, i was finally promoted to CPL. Still remember i went straight to S1. And then he quickly called the promotions clerk(who told me the same thing before that actually.. that the new directive just came out.. )
And for the first time in my life Gabby(the promotion clerk) taught me how to roller blade lah! Oh some of us attended this open office course then they kept disturbing me with the Course Facilitator cause she kept attending to my questions. Then we played pool blahblah.

The friday before ICT, had CO's Evening at Civil Service Club in Bukit Batok.(and then in jan, the Unit Anniversary is conducted the friday before the ICT)...

Has Lo's Farewell dinner at Mad Jack's at Bukit Timah.
And i took down my TRIANGLE(Finally!) but still park like a L driver(no lah, not that bad now lah) and still nvr pump petrol before(coz no money to pay lah)
Went out with Chinkee and Jacinth(see. i mentioned u all). Had dinner at Seoul Garden Ngee Ann City to celebrate Jacinth's Bday! That LITTLE YOUNG GIRL..
I bought a new HP. Coz my 7610 died. And because Chinkee is reading this, I am not revealing what phone i bought.

Went out with the Branch for movie again. Oh yeah. It was that disgusting charmed-like movie which actually is not bad i think. Ha. And then had Unit event at Sentosa. And then had farewell lunch for Chief Clerk and Jason. (wah. been quite long since we've been chief clerkless).
Went to Melf's spa. And also went to Steph's Bday Party.

Current Month.. Have been catching up a lot with friends. And yes Priscilla Ma(according to yr nick), Xmas is indeed an excuse for belated meetups. Ha. So yes. I have been clearing leave. I think i cleared abt 8-10 days this month.
And you might wonder.. Why i bother mentioning about all these seemingly insignificant events. I think we have to appreciate the smaller things in life to see the big picture.
Plus if you're wondering why i dont talk much about weekends its bcoz im doing-the-things-i-usually-do.
Although it seems that i have gathered nothing beneficial or truly meaningful, I guess the greater things in life are always intangible and cannot be compared.
I dont know.
If you think that theres no reason for anybody to be happy because its only another new year, just take it as the beginning of a new chapter, and the closing of another one.
Pardon me for the incoherent writings and typos here and there and everyhwere because i dont bother to check. I dont even know what i'm writing sometimes. This is to maintain the naturalness of my thoughts.

Argh. I wrote something earlier today but then.. my session timed out so blogger logged me out and therefore, my previous post is GONE because i didnt save it.
But anyway, the past few days has been a blast.
I met up with Hakwei on Thursday for some shopping. Bought a pair of nike dunks for only 94 bucks(u/p 135.45), its like THIRTY percent off so i had to grab it although i had NO INTENTIONS of getting myself ANOTHER pair of shoes. Supposed to look for a wallet, but i guess a Bottega Venetta would only be suitable after I ORD, in line with my image(pui). Was looking at spectacles too but then nothing was appealing.. Also managed to catch another movie; Night at the museum. It is quite hilarious. Quite nice but i didnt really like it because its not my kind of movie. Im more into adventure/thriller and sometimes, horror. Ha. Went home early on Thursday as I had to go back to work on Friday.
Had some sort of mini celebrations back in Office. Lots of food as usual. Watched Pirates Of the Caribbean while eating. Its quite hilarious lah. I didnt expect it to be so funny. I thought its some boring pirate show but its damn comical. (i think its funnier than Night at the museum). Later in the night, i met up with Doranne, Kok Leong, Pwee and Candy for some coffee and some crap talk at starbucks raffles city. Doranne was busy telling us about her recent trip to Vietnam. Left at about 12, and i got a ride for her back home(Car Ride Number 1). Reached home, went online and complained to Quan Bao that im quite hungry because i skipped dinner then he immediately suggested driving over to go for supper at Simpang(Car Ride Number 2). Had some prata at 0200, afterwhich he packe-ted some prata for JE, went over to her place to pass it to her and then went to east coast till about 0400. And then i slept.
When i woke up, i had to rush to the-place-where-i-usually-go-on-weekends and then met up with QB, Hew Wing, Andrew and Adeline for dinner at Esplanade Area and then they drove to Cosy Bay(Car Ride Number 3). Ade and Qb left at 1200 and then we decided to go MUSTAFA CENTRE at an unearthly hour of 0200? Went round and round the place. Was quite confused coz its like so disorganized.. But anyway left for Simpang Bedok AGAIN(because everything at Siglap were closed or closing). AND THEN, had prata FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE TIME. (But this time round, i had teh-peng because its cheaper than Milo Dinosaur). and so.... i reached home at 0400 AGAIN. And then i slept.
When i woke up, i had to rush to the-place-where-i-usually-go-on-weekends and then went home because i was tooooo tired from all the late nights. But then, Hakwei was online AND THEN he said he was hungry AND THEN he said that he dont mind coming over to go for Supper(again). ANd that makes Car Ride Number 4. All in all, i was a passenger of 4 different cars over like 3 or 4 days.. And the irony is.. I never seem to be the one driving..

Tues- Met up with Timothy. Bumped into DYS1 just when we were talking abt him
Wed - Went out with QB, Ade and Hew Wing for Movie, a-simple-dinner and yeah, some yummy stuff at rocky masters
Thurs - Shopped ard with Hak. Long time no see.
Today - S1 branch Xmas Celeb and then met up with dor, kok, pwee and candy this evening.
Tmr - Meeting up with Qb, Ade and Hew Wing PLUS andrew
ANd yeah. i cant remember anything now coz waiting for QB coz we gonna have supper coz i skipped dinner!
oh well.g onna go back to work on friday, 29th Dec to clear all my shiet.. Abt 2 weeks before final ICT and MOB. Cant wait!

Due to the working hours of my NS Job, i will bump into Edwin occasionally when i make my way home. And we will end up chit-chatting from the traffic light until i reach my block... And then we would always say.. "eh. meet up for coffee soon".. So.. Finally.. I met up with Edwin this evening.. Not for coffee but for dinner at TAMPINES MALL FOODCOURT. And so we talked quite abit. The normal topic friends usually talk-about after not seeing each other for sooo long.. Army Stuff. Uni Stuff. Future Plans. Getting Married? Getting Car? Getting Job? Getting House.. But yeah. its gd to discuss these kinda stuff. Shows that we have all became more mature...
Timothy's touching down next Monday night at 2230. And we've been emailing each other(in office. DUH!.. although he is in taiwan, he has his own oa account though. international one somemore).. He was like.. "after touchdown.. lets drive to jln kayu... find prata and soybean" I really think he really miss Singapore.. 4 mths since he left for Starlight. And yeah.. 4 more months to ORD(and i havent clear my IPPT. HEHEHE)
And its exactly 2 months before HuiPing leaves for AMD.
And my iTunes.. Its playing Breathing.. What Dasheng and Alvin used to sing in our bunk back during the BMT days. Wow. BMT was like damn freaking long ago. And im chatting with Yaoji now. Initially I was quite pleased that I had 3 other tpjcians in the same bunk as me. Remembered Alvin was like.. "eh. lets go bathe later lahh.".. ok. It sounds wrong here. And Dasheng taking the initiative of "hey. this is my key" (because buddies are supposed to look out for each other. In this case, we are supposed to give a key to our padlock to our locker to our next-bed(yeah.. your buddy.. soo many toos) in case of emergency). Alright. Too bad we cldnt take photographs. (and im planning a bmt section outing i think)
And today was Prashant's last working day. As i was on branch duty today, was the last one to leave the room. As he was walking out(after everyone left), he suddenly turned back and said BYE.. And then i said BYE back.. And then he said.. "I said bye to the branch and not you lah!" Ha. But in the end, I still got a ride out of camp from him.
Ok. enough of this kinda stuff. MOVE ON!..
Yeah. gonna be packed at work and at play. Trying to squeeze in alotttt of activities this upcoming HOLIDAY SEASON..

So this is the consequence of skipping tuesday/friday runs in camp... I barely covered half of the distance that i usually cover and i was PANTING.. I think even the lao ah pek and un-tee ran faster than me. But i didnt stop ok! Ok.. It was only 6km.. But i got quite paranoid coz it was DRIZZLING and then i heard thunder but didnt seee the lightning. Haha.
Quite nostalgic because i used to run the run-from-my-hse-to-the-reservoir-and-then-run-around-bedok-reservoir-route and then stroll home because too tired to run. Ok lah. It started pouring quite heavily the moment i was quite near the first few buildings at Tampines 800plus there..
eh. i think i shld shut up coz im getting incoherent as usual.
AND OH.. I WENT TO MDM SAADAH'S OFFICE AT SAME-BAH-WANG CAMP. NICE PLACE!

my aircon spoilt. bloody carrier aircon. its like less than 6 months and its spoilt (again). How to work. Office is feels like an oven. Oven-Baked Ridza. Gosh. And Dy they all were making fun of me.. coz i used to make fun of their non-functioning aircon.
I did duty yesterday. Meditated the entire day. Sat there and stoned. Read 4 issues of 8 Days, some other magazines like maxim torque blah blah. Cldnt log into the internet coz they changed password(well i went to my office for awhile actually). Cldnt watch tv coz it was hijacked by a guy on open-arrest(or so called). But then watched this rather interesting movie on Arts Central, and sensing that Melf likes this kinda genre, i messaged him and he said he watched it already. But then i dont really like the ending, like a bit too abrupt. Abt this Italian Mafia thing who went to NY and then developed a special relationship with this little girl. And then he died coz the police hunt-ed him down blah blah blah.

It was somesort of a well-needed break from my ever so mundane NSF life. But i had to face a lottttt of ppl who ORDed/ORDing very soon who were pleasantly surprised that YES.. NO NO... I AM NOT GOING TO ORD SO SOON.. IN APRIL... 4 MORE MONTHS... I WAS THE LAST BATCH!... But apart from that, i felt a bit anti because I was probably tired and wasn't really looking forward to it initially coz its a mega big gathering and i dont like mega big gatherings coz its hard to talk. Ha.
And oh. Coz ekta didnt had money to spend on entertainment(which includes F&B) for the chalet, it was a food-less party(it doesnt meant that she doesnt have money though).. But there were plenty of alcohol. But of course i didnt had any. =)
So in essence, what we did was to... Walk along the beach Come back talk cock, then majority left at 2(but urs truly didnt drive and although yrs truly cld have gotten a ride from _____(fill in the blanks coz theres too many choices, he promised kok who needs to report to Pasir Laba at 0530 because he used up all his leave to clear leave).. oh what happened next? Oh yes.. played Old maid and bluff because i forget(or didnt know) how to play daidee or bridge... AND THEN, I LEARNT MAHJONG.. AND ITS FUN!!! Although we played without passport thingy.. And then slept for like 1/2 and hour and then its time to goooo homeee..
As i was walking out, i decided to walk further down to see Hak's old place.. Yeahh. I mean the entire walk was quite nostalgic because i RARELY go for chalets(because im RARELY invited) so yeahhhh.. reminds me of the old times when chalets were really common... when we were younger.. and did i say, we were all thinking that we are overaged for chalets.. coz everyone else seems to be so young.. And while ppl are busy marinating and bbqing their chicken, and giving out bbq-ed chicken, we were busy distributing alcoholic beverages(we.. not me)..
But it was fun.. definitelyy... The normal doesnt-make-sense-stuff-they-usually-do... like trying to throw popcorn into each other's mouth.. or trying to throw peanuts into each other's top... Hahaha... FUNNY..

If that day i was doing the tabulating and tallying, today, i did the report! And I had to cut down from 3 full pages of font size 10.5 to 2 full pages of font size 10. And 7 different annexes. WOW. PHEW~
Hey. We've got new office telephone numbers. And haha. something very interesting. The medical centre ends with 995 and the guardhouse, oh yes, u guessed correctly, ends with 999! Imagine if we punch the wrong keys on the alcatel phones, we might really end up getting through to an emergency HOTLINE!
So.. been busyy.. On leave on Thursday in view of Ekta's Chalet on Wed(hmm. dont know whether i will be out of place but guess its the same gang.. sortof".. And half day on Fri(theres this CSSCOM x-country.. which i actually dont mind joining.. for fun...), and half day on Mon and full day leave on Tues since im doing battalion duty on Sunday. Yes. Duty on a weekend. The last time i did duty on a weekend was in Apr..... Haiz. So.. its my turn again... But why this month? Dont know..
