I think school is getting pretty interesting. Because I get to meet a lot of people. I mean, bump into a lot of people. And it is actually more of bumping into Pri Sch/Sec Sch friend that brings some form of excitement. Although the initial feeling wld be smtg like.. OH SHIET. IS THAT MY FRIEND OR NOT? Yesterday, I met Kokila aka Alikok in the train. It was quite funny because I was not sure whether it was her so I just kept quiet. And then she sat next to me, and then she took out some paper that has her name on it so I had to tap her gently on the shoulder to get her attn(she was so engrossed reading and listening to music). Her first reaction was "Oh. I thought it might be you but then I didn't dare to ....." Then I told her.. "I think it's you too but then I didn't dare because you are longer as loud as you used to be". Lol.

But I woke up this morning feeling quite lazy. It is this sudden realisation that school has already started and everyone's moving like super fast express choo choo train. I was quite frustrated with the Econs tutorial because no doubt the facts are the same as what we learnt in JC, but it's a way higher level of applicability and critical thinking now. Like... drawing dd and ss movt/shift when shares of a certain company increase because it has announced to increase production. Or maybe I'm dumb. Haha. Probably. And they r covering more than JC syllabus(which we took 2 yrs to cover) in one sem. Just bought my text yesterday and we are supposed to be on page 100plus already. But the book is good. I wish I had such a reference during JC. Our lecturers teamed up with this reputed pair of Econs writers and then modified it to be a Singaporean version so it is smtg we can relate to.. Like egs of Newater, Sentosa, Uni fees etc.

Been listening to band songs nowadays.

Tutorials started today. I had 6 straight hours of lessons! 4 Hours of Lectures(econs & new media) and 2 Hours of Socio Tutorial. Well, I must say that the Sociology tutorial was very very interesting as it was a very interactive session. Our class had a mix of students from engine, real estate, biz as well as fass itself. So I must say I'm quite impressed esp with my new engine friends coz I didn't expect them to be so well-versed when it comes to Arty Soci issues. But they are chem engine students afterall, so yeah.. Of a certain standard lah.. And Oh.. Some of them are year 2 or 3 or 4. So it's reallly a MIX.... Anyway, we touched on a lot of issues during tutorials and it was really an eye-opener as we were busy exchanging our perspectives and ideas. And I didn't feel tense at all lah. Maybe during the beginning when everyone didn't know each other. I must say I was quite surprised when I found out that I am in the same tutorial class as Daniel Lim! One of my best friends in primary school! And we haven't seen each other since ?primary school! Well. Must say that school is picking up speed now. And it's going realllyyy fast. Arts timetable might be slack but the number of hours put in for tutorials and lectures is..... anything but crazy..

And Yes.. I am once again in the Central Library... On the third floor today as the Quiet Area. There's quiet areas everywhere.

Reached school at about 1015 today as I managed to get a ride from an extremely kind friend, ie. Adeline. Then I bumped into Pwee at the Co-Op so we just hanged around The Deck. Must say that the only Muslim Stall there is quite disappointing. Anyway, had lunch with Diy, Nh & Ahadiyah because Yazid cldn't make it. Lol.

Haiz. I think I shld get down to some serious ridding now. Riddy hasn't been ridding. =(

Gosh. I'm so tired from all the travelling. Feels just like when I was in the army. Today, I had my first EAP(English for Academic Purposes) tutorial. Was ok. Sounds quite exciting actually. Plus, I made quite a lot of friends coz the tutor made us sit in circles and we were supposed to get to know each other. Well, I finally bought my Soci text from the Co-op. Was so crowded. But since I was free, i queued up. Wanted to sign up for the membership card but then the process was too tedious. When I was on my way back, I bumped into Aisyah and an ex Hildan in the train. In school, bumped into Diy and Caroline. Lol.

My more or less confirmed timetable till end of this year.

Webcamming with Hak @ Central Library. LOL

|| nobone ran out @ 8/20/2007 11:17:00 pm ||

And Oh Yes. I am still in school. Lectures ended at about 1330 (with a reaction paper based on a journalism talk by Kristie Lu Stout, a CNN journalist. I was sitting alone this morning as I felt that I wanted to be a loner. Haha. Anyway, had a fruitful afternoon running around campus..(ok.. running ard FASS, Central Forum and YIH).

- Met Amir for lunch at The Deck. My first time eating there. Food isn't that nice but it's cheap!
- Crossed over to Engine Canteen called Techno Edge. Amir said they have wonderful desserts there. I had HOT almond beancurd.
- And then we planned to go to the library but bumped into someone familiar. Guosh was reading some stuff lah. When Amir asked me based on the side view whether it's Guosh, I told him.. "Guosh will not mug one lah". But it was him lah.
- After they left, I hopped on one of the internal shuttle service to Yusof Ishak House to post a letter(to activate my UOB card) and then bought printer ink at Co-op. Although I haven't applied for the Co-op card and couldn't enjoy th 5% discount, I still hope it's cheaper lah.
- And then I headed to Central Library(Finally right), and then I discovered that I cldn't enter RBR(this strict looking place where we have to deposit our bags outside and they have 2 different set of sensor gantries) because no way was I going to leave my laptop unattended, so I was hoping to bump into someone, and so I bumped into sun smtg(ex tpjcian) and qiao zhi.
- I did some photocopying. Gosh the room is scary! There are like probably 50 sets of copy machines in the room. I saw Cheryl and spoke to her. Hmm. Guess it will feel quite "old" to be a 4th year student. Lol.
- I topped up my cashcard. It was cute lah. They had 2 nets machine left unattended and were supposed to top it up on my own. Thankfully I had some experience of being a cashier(not that you need the work background to work that machine...), so I managed to get the hang of it. Plus, the person next to me actually asked me how to work the machine! Lol.

And so.. here I am waiting for my 7pm appointment.
:)

Discovered one or two awkward spots of dead/stuck pixels. Contacted HP support but then they said it is perfectly normal. After reading various websites, I managed to convince myself that it is normal. Also, I think it is quite amazing because they have free online programmes in the form of animated gif files to try to massage the dead/stuck pixel away so that it will die or something like that. I am supposed to leave it on for 1hr or up to 20 hrs depending on which programme I use. However, haven't managed to get rid of it. I think it just occurred. Should be yesterday. But the thing is, it is only visible from some angle.

Bumped into some A04 people who were leaving school. And then the next person I saw as Cheng Wei who was queuing up to buy the course pack for sociology. So without any delay, I handed over some money to him so that he could quickly buy for me(so that I don't have to queue up). But I actually went to school 1/2 hr earlier so that I can obtain the course package.

Still in the 1st week of school. Had 3rd lecture today. Oh well. Think that the lecturers are entertaining in a serious way. Today's lecture was kind of confusing because we were introduced to the various concepts of Sociology… See. I don't really know what went on during the lecture. Just that I really think that he resembles Mr Sahlan.

Met Pwee who was leaving the LT, while I was entering, as well as Kelly on the Internal Shuttle Bus on my way back.

I managed to sign up for one of the societies and discovered that majority of those present are overseas students(scholars). But out of interest sake, I still signed up.

Quite disappointed because I was supposed to receive a phone call from this sarcastic lecturer, but then she didn't call. After going through the department's website, I now realise why she behaves like that. It seems that she had her education in Malaysia(or Malaya.. I don't know how old she is).. So I can assume that she spent the earlier years of her life there. So because of this, I THINK that she thinks that all Malays are lazy and are only interested in doing supposedly simpler area of studies like MALAY STUDIES. Well. She said it to me directly… When I told her that I want to request to do my English for Academic Purpose Module in Sem 1 instead of Sem 2(because YES.. I screwed up my QET), she was like.. "Why? I thought you are going to do Malay Studies…" I mean even if I am going to do Malay Studies, it has nothing to do with you. And then when I explain to her via email(army taught me importance of black & white) that I wanted to do EL1101E in sem 2, and in order for me to qualify to do that module, I need to clear EA1101, she was like.. "Would u pls make up yr mind….. Sem 1 or Sem 2". Lol. I mean no offence to anyone out there, but it seems that there is this grp of ppl who tend to compare the wrong things at the wrong time. I mean.. Seriously.. Why don't you do Sociology or something. Be more constructive. Either way, I wasn't really keen to blog about this but it's because I am actually on the train right now. So I have some free time to VENT OUT MY ANGER because she promised to call me but failed to do so. I mean.. Yeah.. She's busy.. So what? But anyway, I am just trying to appeal lah. Don't really care if I am going to get it this sem or next sem. Still the same. Thing is, I think I am going to enjoy SCHOOL.

I took the internal shuttle bus and then it passed through the new computing building(which I think is the old law) and then business and then passed by the hostels. And I was like.. Hmmm.. This place is big lah. And I was thinking whether I should have had applied to stay in hall. But yeah. Fasting mth is coming. Better to stay at home. About transport.. Thankfully Adeline actually offered to pick me up along Tamp Ave 10 depending on the timetable lah. Otherwise, I guess I will have to get used to it like how I get used to travelling to and fro Ayer Rajah Camp for the past 2 yrs. Yes yes. Train rides has been quite nostalgic esp along the Redhill to Buona Vista stretch.

Oh well. Reaching my station soon. Got to shut down coz Vista takes veryyy long..

The harder you try, the harder you fall.

Don't we get irritated sometimes because we don't know if it is wrong to try too hard OR we don't know if we actually tried hard enough.

But I guess we learn how to stand up again if we fall. That falling serves a purpose. I think I always say this. I think everyone always says this.

Do you remember your first day in Kindergarten/Pri Sch/Sec Sch/JC?

I can't really remember right now, so I will blog abt it when I remember, if I remember.

But for memory's sake....

Today was my official first day in NUS... Apart from that irritating encounter, school was great.
Bumped into ex sch friends/acquaintances taking the same lectures as well as batchmates/friends(the girls) all over (Eg. Shiru or is it Yanru, Adeline and Fiona(who was rushing off to somewhere and she didnt hear me calling her name out). And specialthanks to Jacjac for accompanying me throughout my virgin experience of a lecture.

Managed to catch a glimpse of the newly-renovated Arts Canteen.. Too many people there so I left. I didn't even explore the 2nd floor (they say got lerk thai, BK and dome cafe)..

Econs lecture was ok albeit a bit dry. The presenter was trying her best to explain the various concepts interestingly. Seems that I could understand the topics better than during JC, perhaps because I already took it in JC lah, or perhaps its the introductory lecture. But they keep on saying the context is different...

NM lecture was interesting. Was quite impressed with the way they actually got their entire team to introduce themselves(including the librarians). Before entering NUS, I gave considerable thought to major in NM. But all those terminologies and jargons are scary. But I guess that is what exposure modules are for.

NM lecture ended early. Feeling bored, I managed to make a lunch appt at the last minute. Flew down to Paragon(tks to my MRT concession) and then had indonesian food.

Quite excited for school. But no friends lah. Kns.

Ques: School is (finally) starting tmr! How do YOU feel?

Ans 1: I feel worried I guess. Because I have nothing to wear!

Ans 2: Huh. Tmr Sch Start ah? I haven't even bid for my modules yet lor.

Ans 3: I feel Stressed! I can feel the Exam heat already!

Ans 4: Blah It's just school. I got more important things to think of (like what to wear to school)

Ans 5: I feel very happy! Because I can make new friends.

Ans 6: I'm quite nervous because I don't really know how to get to school. All my life, I walked to school one leh (Kindergarten, Pri Sch, Sec Sch, JC and even army camp!!)

Ans 7: I'm very excited. Because I heard it is something like Oweek, just that its one sem now, so its called O(h)sem!, I think.

Ans 8: I feel like shit because all the reading materials have been snapped up. I cannot even find them at Big Bookshop or the Big Big Popular at Bras Basah.

Ans 9: I feel rich because finally get allowance lor.

Ans 10: Wow. That is a very tough question. However, I shall try my best to attempt to answer it. I feel... *pause*... If you are really going to ask me abt what I feel, I feeel that school is going to start tmr!

I am currently at the cafe where Melf has been working at. Its a pretty nice cafe. Very bright due to the full length windows. Nice decor and concept. Very quiet now because there's nobody. Surprisingly, Shaun has been here before. I remember that he blogged about it. The cafe faces Orchard Road, the Centrepoint part so it offers a very nice view. I'm Hungry. He went grocery shopping..

National Day this year was spent together with Jacinth and Chin Kee. We watched the live webcast of the Parade at Mac Donalds at Raffles Place (the one where we used to mug together for A levels). The resolution was quite bad. We.. I mean Jac kept peeping into somebody else's labtop because the person had better resolution(he was watching on tv mobile channel) and it was not as laggy as ours. Anyway, we packed up as soon as the Parade ended and took a slow stroll to the Padang because there were tooo many people. We ended up sitting in the middle of the Padang and found ourselves amidst locals and foreigners decked in red and white. And Oh. There were realllly a lot of foreigners. Expats and Labourers alike. Anyway, we didn't had a perfect view of the fireworks as we were blocked by some shady trees. But it is the company that matters anyway. =) And then when it ended we made our way to Central at Clarke Quay for some coffee. Two of JacJac's friends joined us and we sat down to talk (cock).

Some Photos

Your EQ is 140

50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick!
51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese.
71-90: You've got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely.
91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.
111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt.
131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.
150+: Two possibilities - you've either out "Dr. Phil-ed" Dr. Phil... or you're a dirty liar.
What's Your EQ (Emotional Intelligence Quotient)?

Was (trying to) clean my room as usual this evening. Found bags of letters/cards, presumably from previous clean-up sessions. Hadn't had the time to read them individually, but will do so tmr.
Some dated all the way to 2000. Lol.

Some when-i-was-young photos. Realised that I always don't look at the camera. Selected the best shots below, those facing the camera at least.

Dinner with Shuhui on 3rd August 2007.

As usual, we forgot to take photos and realised only when we were reaching home. Haha. See how oily my face was lah.

Blading with Xinjia today

For the 2nd time in my life, I roller bladed lor. It was better then the previous time. I learnt a lot under Ms Xinjia and some unknown Pei Cai kid who in the end told us that he never bladed before lah. So dumb.

We had Gelare waffles after that, since today is Tuesday.. How sinful. Then we went to Parkway Parade to walk around and then played pool for an hour. Reminds me of the good old times back during JC. Used to play together with the rest of the bandmates after band on saturdays at Tampines Pavilion. And then Xj, Edwin and me will walk home together.

Hew Wing's Birthday Party on 4th August 2007

Actually today is her actual birthday. But have yet to send her an sms/call her to wish her Happy Birthday because she is with her dearest Andrew. And i don't think I shld disturb their romantic moments together(yeah right, I think everyone is flooding her HP now). Anyway, it was a grand party, after which we adjourned for Changi Village Nasi Lemak and Pool at Katong.

Haven't felt sooo HAPPY for so long. Esp after getting crappy(but expected) QET results.

Been meeting JC friends like Syahiid, XInjia and Shuhui these few days. Been seeing more of the Arts Fac guys in FASS(like chengwei, shaun, cheewei, daniel, qiao zhi, shafi, junyi etc etc etc.). I mean like where else can we all go anyway.

School.. I mean Lessons will be starting on the 13 of August. Initially, I planned to go for Oweek. But after attending the Orientation Talks, I decided to change my mind because I feel I am toooo old to be sooo enthu. 2 years of NS has drained me of the enthu-ness I used to display in sec sch or JC days. Haha. Plus, I guess I will be quite busy(occupied) when school starts so its good that I have this opportunity to take things slow(not when Im worried about bidding though).

Anyway, don't know if its too early to be sooo happy because, I have not balloted for my tutorials. But i think I shldnt be worrying and that I shld just enjoy the rest of my holidays.
